· Cleaning and adjunct treatment in skin and mucosal disorders originally bacterial or susceptible to superinfecting

· Antiseptic washing of the hands of the nursing staff and the hands of the surgeon

· Washing antiseptic, pre-operative

Note: Antiseptic agents are not sterilizing: they reduce the number of microorganisms temporarily

Skin channel.

For the hygienic washing of the hands, the product is used pure 4 ml, poured on the hands previously wet, Rub for 1 min and rinse thoroughly with water.
< Br>

For surgical handwashing, repeat this procedure for 3-5 minutes on the hands and forearms

For the cleansing of soiled wounds, use the product diluted to one-third, Rinse thoroughly with water.

Preparation of the operated

Preparation of the surgery should be done less than two hours before surgery.
A shower is practiced the morning of the intervention with the pure product

· Wet thoroughly the head, hair, and whole body under the shower.

· Perform the antiseptic wash in four time

O Rub the head and hair with 10 ml of BETADINE SCRUB 4%, until discoloration of the foam. Do not flush.

O Rubbing the upper trunk and upper limbs with 10 ml of BETADINE SCRUB 4% with emphasis on armpits and navels, do not rinse. >

Scrub until decolouration of the genital area and lower limbs with 10 ml of BETADINE SCRUB 4%, insisting on the level of the genitals, the infussed fold and between the toes. Do not flush.

O Rinse thoroughly the entire body.

· Renew washing operations in accordance with the same protocol. Rinse and then dry with a clean towel and put on clean clothes.

ANTISEPTICS AND DISINFECTANTS ATC Code: D08AG02.

Broad spectrum antiseptic, bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal

Antiseptic group: derivatives, iodinated

Excipient surfactant.

Its spectrum of activity is that of iodine, released slowly and gradually

· Bactericidal in less than 5 minutes in vitro; on all bacteria

· Fungicide on yeasts and fungi, filamentous

Organic matter (proteins, serum, blood ...) decreases the activity of free iodine, the active form of this specialty.

The iodophores are unstable at pH, alkaline

The skin coated with iodinated povidone takes a brown discolouration which is readily eliminated in water.

Not applicable.

This medication MUST NOT BE USED in the following situations:

· A history of allergy to one of the constituents, particularly polyvidone. There are no cross-reactions with iodinated contrast media. Reactions of intolerance (anaphylactoid reactions) to contrast products, iodized or anaphylaxis to seafood do not constitute a contraindication to the use of BETADINE SCRUB 4%.
< Br>

· For disinfection of equipment, medical and surgical

· In the newborn less than 1 month

· Prolonged during the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy

· Breastfeeding is contraindicated in case of prolonged treatment

This medication MUST NOT BE GENERALLY NOT USED in combination with mercury-derived antiseptics.
Warnings, special

Due to the transcutaneous resorption of iodine, the use of this specialty may expose to systemic effects (see Undesirable effects).

These systemic effects, favored by the repetition of applications, are all the more to be feared that the antiseptic is used on a large surface, under an occlusive dressing, on a damaged skin (particularly burned), a mucous membrane, a skin Preterm or infant (because of the surface to weight ratio and the occlusal effect of the layers at the level of the seat).

Special attention is required for routine applications performed on injured skin in patients with renal insufficiency, particularly in severe burns (see section Effects, undesirable).

Contraindicated in the newborn child, use in children under 30 months of age, if necessary, will be limited to a brief and limited application and will be followed by washing Sterile Water.

Precautions for use

Rinse after use.

In the preparation of the operation, avoid sagging and maceration between the patient and the table cloth. Prolonged contact with undried solution may lead to irritation and rarely severe skin burn reactions

Given the possible interference (antagonism, inactivation ...) the simultaneous or successive use of antiseptics should be avoided.
Possible interference with functional explorations of the thyroid (see section Effects, undesirable)

Associations, deprecated

+ Mercury antiseptics

Erythema, phlyctenes, and even mucocutaneous necrosis (formation of a complex caustic when concomitant use of antiseptics, iodine and mercurials). The interaction depends on the stability of the organo-mercury on the cutaneous level and on the individual sensibility.
Not applicable.

Massive oral ingestion likely to result in severe intoxication is to be treated in a specialized setting. Given the foaming character of this solution, do not perform gastric lavage.

Pregnancy

Studies in animals have not shown any teratogenic effect. In the absence of teratogenic effect in animals, a malformative effect in the human species is not expected. Indeed, to date, the substances responsible for malformations in the human species have been shown to be teratogenic in animals in well-conducted studies on two species

Clinically, there are currently no adequate data to evaluate a possible malformative effect of polyvidone iodine when administered in the first trimester of pregnancy. >

The fetal thyroid begins to fix iodine after 14 weeks of amenorrhea, and no repercussions on the fetal thyroid are expected in the case of prior administration. The iodized overload, which is highly probable with prolonged use of this product, may result in fetal, biological or even clinical hypothyroidism (goiter). As a result, prolonged use of this medication is contraindicated, as of the 2nd trimester.
Its use on an ad hoc basis should be considered only if necessary.

Breastfeeding

Iodine passes into milk at higher concentrations than maternal plasma. Due to the risk of hypothyroidism in infants, breast-feeding is contraindicated in case of prolonged treatment with this drug

In cases of repeated and prolonged administration, there may be an iodized overload, which may lead to thyroid dysfunction, especially in premature and severe burns.
< Br>
Exceptionally, hypersensitivity reactions: urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic shock, anaphylactoid reaction have been described with products containing polyvidone including BETADINE SCRUB 4%.

When used on large surfaces and in large burns, systemic effects have been observed: disorder, renal function with metabolic acidosis
< Code>
Local skin reactions may occur: caustic dermatitis in the case of maceration and contact dermatitis
